Toa Atogami (後上 トア Atogami Toa[?]) is an original character by Nia and the protagonist of the song You and the Secret.

Appearance[]
Toa has teal twin braids, with a piece of hair sweeping out from each side. So far, Toa's eye color is unknown, with her only being portrayed with her eyes closed thus far. She wears a blue vest over a white collared shirt with long sleeves, along with a black tie. In You and the Secret, it is implied that she has had short bangs in the past.
Personality[]
Toa is somebody who observes others; however, she intervenes and supports the desires of her classmates, even when they are harmful. She has no interest in anybody, and only supports them to see the ending. [2] She pretends to be people's friends so that they can carry out their unfulfilled love lives, with this being shown the most with Ikumi.[2][3] Toa is also described as a "delusional child" who is "constantly indulging in fantasies", with her using Ikumi mainly as "food for delusions".[3][4]
Despite seeming cheerful on the outside, Toa is described as "generally gloomy" and has a bad habit of biting her nails.[4] However, she is shown to be rather idealistic, with her believing that her dream can come true and encouraging others to follow their dreams. As of now, it is unknown what her dream is; however, it is implied that it is related to someone who she cannot touch.
As shown in You and the Secret, Toa loves it when other people are upset and down, with her heart yearning for it. [5]
Relationships[]
Ikumi Ikushima[]
Toa supports Ikumi's attraction to her teacher, and encourages her to act on it. Toa's delusions are fed through Ikumi's dreams of wanting to be with her teacher. Due to the support, Ikumi grows very attached to Toa, however Toa does not care about her. Toa only cares about Ikumi's dreams, which Ikumi is unaware of.
Yuu Yuumukai[]
It is speculated that Yuu gets love counseling from Toa, due to Yuu being described as "often receiv[ing] love counselling" and Toa being known for advising people on love-related topics. [6]
Mio Oomi[]
Mio and Toa are seen talking together in Abnormality Dancin' Girl. Due to the positioning of the seating in the MV, it is possible that Mio has sat in front of Toa in the past.
Etymology[]
Toa (トア[?]) has various meanings depending on the kanji used, possible ones being "仁愛" (仁( "humanity, benevolence, kindness.")愛("love, affection, fondness.")); "利亜"(利("profit, benefit, advantage.")亜("sub-, inferior, second to, asia.")); and "十有"(十("Ten")有("existence, possession, having.")).[7]
Atogami (後上[?]) means 後( "after, later.")上("up, above, top.")[8]
Story[]
In God's Miniature Garden, Toa is mainly involved with Ikumi, as she supports Ikumi's love for her teacher and encourages her to act upon it.
In You and the Secret, Toa talks about an unknown person in her song. The song mainly speaks about her love for that person and how she "cannot have" it. In the middle of the song, she gives up because "it would never happen"; however, "on the way home after lying, the dream from that day changed form and shined". Now, Toa believes that "[her] dreams will be still around and eventually sprout". It is theorized that the unknown person in the song could represent her classmates, with her secret possibly being her true intentions which no one in her class knows about.
In Everyone is Human, she is seen encouraging Ikumi.
