Michiko Ame (あめ ミチコ(雨 路子) Ame Michiko[?]) is an original character by Guchiry and protagonist of the song Rainy Girl.

She is a very unfortunate girl who spends time watching TV in front of electronic stores. Her family is broken up, and she no longer has a place to reside.[1]

Appearance[]

Michiko Ame is a young girl with fair, cool toned skin with flushed cheeks and blue eyes, she has long pink hair styled into two pigtails by black ribbons, Michiko wears a black choker with a square of white in the middle, The ribbons in her hair are attached to this choker. Michiko wears a knee length white dress trimmed with black ruffles and long sleeves that go past her hands, The dress has a peter pan collar with a black ribbon tied to it, it has two black straps attached to the collar, One of which are hanging off Michiko's left shoulder. With a black belt in the middle with what appears to be a buckle. For Footwear, she wears chunky, black platforms that resemble Mary Janes and white, knee socks with a frilled trim. Hanging off her elbows is a purple jacket that resembles an athletic jacket with two stripes running down each sleeve. In Rainy Girl her fingernails look to have been ripped off; Michiko uses bandages to cover said nails.

Michiko is usually depicted with a sad expression, sometimes with tears.

Personality[]

She was a naturally born light-fortuned girl and because of that she tended to rely on other people for help, often at the price of harming herself; however, Michiko understood that this was not sustainable. Michiko understood that the future of her sexual relationships with older men did not exist, as they were only using her, but wished to continue dreaming due to her desire to be loved. She had a tendency to be unhappy in everything she did. As the years go by, she gradually became more and more unhappy.[2][3]

Relationships[]

Carl[]

Carl and Michiko first interacted when Carl appeared to her after following her around. He invites her to the Midnight Ball in Rainy Girl during the scene where Michiko gave him her hand and then fell on her face, with him grinning. Despite this, she seems to trust Carl and dances with him at the Midnight Ball.

Ritsu Itami[]

They used to be childhood friends until they gradually drifted apart from each other due to Michiko's natural misfortune.[4][3]

Naro Tanaka[]

Naro and Michiko are only seen canonically interacting in one of Naro's reincarnated lives, where he saves her from Jiro Nito in Fallin' Dead Relive Life. Afterwards, she hugs him as a thanks. This may have been a dream Naro experienced during his coma.

Etymology[]

Michiko (ミチコ(路子)[?]) : (michi[?]) can mean “road, street, way, etc”,[5] while (ko[?]) means child. It means nothing in Katakana.

Ame (あめ()[?]) : Like her first name, Ame means nothing in Katakana, but in Kanji, literally translates to "rain".[6]

The name altogether means “rain way” or "rain road child".

Story[]

As a child, Michiko had a troubled home life that covered many domestic issues[1][7] and a childhood friend named Ritsu Itami; however, they soon became estranged when Michiko's misfortune started affecting Ritsu too.[3] Eventually, her family and home broke up. Because she had nowhere else to go, she started wandering the streets, watching the television and news outside of electronic stores for entertainment.

In Rainy Girl, Michiko wanders the roads alone in the rain without an umbrella while images of her past home life and her interactions with older men appear on the screen. Michiko was sexually abused to have a place to stay in return, with the places she stayed at often having stained ceilings and cigarettes and alcohol. Though Michiko suffers through this, she doesn't mind it, as it was something she willingly did to survive. Later she is kicked out, possibly because they were not interested in her anymore, and frantically bangs on the door asking where she could go to be saved. With nowhere else to go, she falls in despair, Carl ominously standing behind behind her. He hugs her from behind, only to disappear, and for her to start choking. At the end, she walks down an alleyway at 2 am, similar to one in Laughing clown dances with the devil. and finds Carl at the end of it. Carl beckons her to come over with ghosts from the Midnight Ball behind him. Michiko reaches out, only to fall on the floor, possibly dying.

Trivia[]

  • Carl is the source of her increasing unhappiness.
