Mercedes (メルセデス Merusedesu[?]) is an original character by Guchiry and is the protagonist of the songs Repentance and Kyuusai no Inori.
She is a woman who regrets being the cause of her brother's death and later joins the Cult of the Abandoned City.
Appearance[]
Mercedes has short red and orange hair. She wears a black and white nun outfit, an ombre ribbon that ranges from purple to red, and a pair of long black stockings. Her veil is black with purple insides and a lace pattern at the bottom. Her eyes are red, seemingly having spirals in them after the events of Repentance.
Personality[]
She's said to be a cheerful and energetic older sister who later fell into despair after her brother died. She's a fanatic of the Cult of the Abandoned City, and spends several hours a day praying.
Story[]
When she was a child, Mercedes lost her younger brother in a tragic way, and as evidenced in Repentance she constantly blamed herself for his death. Later on, she was taken in to the Cult of the Abandoned City by Astraea. Here, Mercedes met the leader of the cult, Crowley, a boy whose holiness resembles that of her brother's. This lead to her feeling extremely attached to Crowley, and becoming a devoted sister of the church where she now prays for hours a day and works in the confessional.
Relationships[]
Crowley[]
Mercedes cares very much about Crowley, even saying she would sacrifice herself to him. This is due to her seeing her late brother's holiness in him.
Astraea[]
Mercedes is around Astraea a lot, which leads to Astraea noticing her erratic behavior and becoming worried about her.
Etymology[]

Mercedes is a Spanish female given name, derived from María de las Mercedes ("Our Lady of Mercy" or "Mary of Mercies"), which is one of the Roman Catholic titles of the Virgin Mary. The word "Mercedes" is of Latin origin meaning "mercies" (plural of mercy) from the Latin word merced-, merces, meaning "wages, reward", which in Vulgar Latin acquired the meaning "favor, pity"."
