Lopt (ロプト Roputo[?]), also known as "X X X X" is one of Guchiry's original characters. He is the protagonist of the song Lopt's Trick and a notable side character in Nitro.
Not much is known of him, but he seems to be related to the government after appearing on the screen of a tall building. However, he is also seen wearing the armband for the Revolutionary Army in a reference image, so it's not clearly known where his affiliations lie.
Appearance[]

Nitro character reference sheet from Hima's Pixiv
Lopt is about the same height as Jiro. He has short black hair that feathers outward in tufts. His eyes are black but are usually closed, and he holds a sly expression most of the time. He wears an oversized white jacket that reaches to his knees, with parallel black stripes in the front and four black buttons at the collar. Two black tassels are seen dangling from the underside of his jacket. He wears black gloves, pants, and heels. Lopt also has two black stud earrings, one on each earlobe. An armband similar in appearance to Riko’s is seen on the Nitro reference sheet, although it is unclear if he is genuinely sided with the Revolutionary Army or the government.
Personality[]
Lopt is a person with not much known about him. This is likely intentional, though—what is known about him is that he's supposed to be a "mastermind" of sorts, and therefore, keeping information about himself hidden would be more ideal. His role as a “mastermind” heavily implies that he is manipulative and works heavily behind the scenes. Multiple lyrics imply he was involved with humanity and the Secret Fruit, even more particularly that he was the creator of it and perhaps even tempted humanity with it. It could be said he is possibly at least partially responsible for humanity's descent into greed—knowing how he already is in regards to greed and his overall personality and actions, he perhaps was driven by his own greed to cast humanity into it as well.
He does not appear to be a loyal person. In the end, he sabotages both the Revolutionary Army and the Old Empire's government through his involvement in Jiro's actions, although he receives no known consequences for it. He seems to enjoy the part he plays in Jiro's story and possibly even when humans fell into greed (implied in the lyrics of Lopt's Trick), acting as both an antagonist and driving force behind terribly negative events whilst having no thoughts of the collateral damage and consequences.
Lopt's personality parallels Jiro, although with a much more positive appearance. He too seems, for the most part, pessimistic about the world. He views society and the way it currently is as a "disaster" and believes humans to be equivalent to monsters incapable of love. He views the existence of humans as them having been born into the world, multiplying, and then saying that they "take everything". He blames it on the humans which obtained the Secret Fruit, which he also blames on humanity themselves as they were the ones to reach out with "sinful emotions".
The way he goes about this pessimism is unlike Jiro's hatred—instead, it could almost be labeled as hedonism in the way he takes it all so lightheartedly, saying that he'll laugh at it all, from despair, disappointment, to meaninglessness, until it is "washed away at his will". He is indulgent in the misery of the world and claims that the disaster of humanity is hilarious, and while it is unknown exactly what reasoning he had for his involvement with Jiro and the actions depicted in Nitro, it appears to bring him delight too. Similar to other characters, he views misfortune as something "sweet and tasty", and even refers to Jiro's future as such.
Despite that, his satisfaction with how things are could be disputed. He already believes that there is no fun in making fun of or insulting things, and believes all of creation is worthless, and even asks someone (very likely Jiro) what they would think if the world as it is was destroyed. It is very possible that he could hold some sort of dissatisfaction or even possible resentment towards the world. This is furthered by how both his entire backstory is not truly known and can only be at the most considered "implied", and that he claims that "humans are monsters who cannot love and take everything". Though it is unknown what created his disdain for humans, it has to have been something that both created such an immense hatred but also gave him a reason to hide amongst them instead of abandoning them as the other gods did.
He seems to be an atypical god. One defining characteristic of a god is a "lack of greed", greed being something that resulted from consumption of the Secret Fruit. In fact, humans given the genes of gods have a significant decrease in greed and become better people that do not want to harm others, as shown in the results of the Psychic Dancers experiments. Gods are also capable of falling into greed, seen in Astraea who came greedy in her quest to provide Crowley with love, food, and shelter by taking advantage of the rest of the humans, but Lopt seems to be inherently greedy.
He is indulgent upon the sins and misery of others, causes destruction without care for how it affects allies and enemies alike, and shows a marked lack of concern for the problems of humanity. He is greedy, a trait only supposed to be found within the humanity tainted long ago. There is also no clear sign that he "fell into greed" due to his circumstances like Astraea did. Despite his clear loathing for humanity itself, he is more like a human than the rest of the gods.
Relationships[]
Jiro Nito[]
Lopt's relationship with Jiro seems rather "neutral." At one point in Nitro, Lopt can be seen approaching Jiro from behind. As Jiro's eyes widen with a nervous expression, Lopt simply grins. Jiro is also the only member of the Revolutionary Army which he is known to have interacted with.
Also, Lopt supplied Jiro with materials such as guns and time bombs, including the one he used in the end of Nitro.[1] In some places, it is implied that Lopt was the one to have given Jiro the idea of bombing the government building while he was at his lowest.
Lopt seems to take delight in what happens to Jiro, as seen in Lopt's Trick, where he refers to Jiro's future as "sweet and tasty". It is also highly likely the lyrics "If that sort of world were destroyed... / what would you think?" are directed towards Jiro, as there are not many other people at all which it could be directed towards. Whether Lopt genuinely wants to destroy the world as it is, see it destroyed, or is just playing into Jiro's pessimistic mindset is unclear, but what can be determined is that he knows enough about Jiro to say what is needed to make him obey and fall into his plans.
Jiro also appears to trust Lopt heavily, despite the anxiety shown in the one scene where they interact. He at least trusts Lopt enough to listen to what he says and do as he tells, eventually leading to his demise.
Etymology[]
"Lopt" means "air" in Old Norse, and is one of the names Loki, the Norse god of lies and mischief, uses in some poems.

"この前のボーマスではリスナーから「次郎や革命軍の人たちってどんな感じで戦うんですか?直接っていうよりも銃とかですか?」って考察質問もらってうれしくてうきうきで答えちゃったな ちなみに次郎は銃火器類をロプトに斡旋してもらって最期はそれらを使ったよ(銃、時限爆弾などなど)/At the last VoMas, a listener asked "What sort of impression does fighting from Jiro and the people in the Revolutionary Army give? Is it direct, like guns, or something? and receiving this question has made me very happy and cheerful to answer. Incidentally, Jiro receiving guns and that sort of stuff was mediated by Lopt, and he used them in his last days (guns, time bombs, so on and so forth)."
