Ishii (石井 Ishii[?]) is an original character by Guchiry, and is the protagonist of the songs I want to live and die., Salvage from Garbage, and Cruciferous.

He is a character written for the novel I want to live and die by Jinsei Owatarou.[1]

Appearance[]

Ishii has black hair covering one eye that is also tied into a small ponytail, black eyes, and pale skin.

In the Mugenhouyou album preview, Ishii's hair and outfit is accompanied by a light purple shine and is slightly messier. He is shown wearing a plain white t-shirt with black pants and black suspenders hanging off of them from the side.

In Cruciferous, he is shown wearing the same outfit. However, in the MV, his hair has lavender streaks and no visible shine.

In Live Idly, his hair instead gets a red shine, and he is seen wearing a red turtle neck and a black cardigan.

Personality[]

Ishii is described as immature and unable to grow into an adult. His character is primarily based off of Jinsei Owatarou's own life.[1]

In Aosugita Orange, it is shown that he thinks "everything [he does] is half-hearted" and is not willing to try because he believes he "can't do [what he wants to do]". He says that he knows "what [he] want[s] to do", but due to him not willing to try, nothing he wishes to do is accomplished. He is aware of all of this, and states that he won't ever change, with him "the same in the past [and] the same in the future". [2]

In Cruciferous, Ishii believes that he does not have a destination to head to. He expresses a desire to "throw everything away" that he knows he cannot accomplish.

Relationships[]

Jinsei Owatarou[]

Ishii is merely a character written by Jinsei for her novel; however, he is also her way to write about her own experiences.[1]

Unnamed classmate[]

Ishii and them were old classmates back in school. Later, they meet together again as adults, and have a causal conversation that results in Ishii finally moving on from his past.[2]

Etymology[]

(Ishi[?]) means "stone" and 井 (I[?]) means "well".[3]

Story[]

Ishii is an original character by Jinsei Owatarou in her book I want to live and die.. He is based off of Jinsei herself.

Ishii is a dropout that "suffers from his own immaturity and [his own] inability to grow into an adult". Everything he does is half-hearted and does not last long, and Ishii himself is aware of this. He deeply regrets his unproductive life. One day, he meets an unnamed classmate and has a conversation with them. Though this was a casual exchange, Ishii's "past memories turned into painful ones". Being unable to do anything but regret, Ishii is implied to have ended his life.[2]

Later, he and his book appear to have been made into a film. [4][5]
